About me

Anna Nowicka

dancer, choreographer, dreamer

I’m a choreographer and a performer. I studied dance at Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance (SEAD), and did my MA in Choreography at the HfS Ernst-Busch / HZT in Berlin. I also majored in psychology at the University of Warsaw. My artistic explorations focus on the relationship between the dreaming and the dancing body, and in particular, on the choreography of the imagined. I hold numerous accolades and grants. I was rewarded with the DAAD Prize, followed by the choreographic scholarship from the Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes and Tanzstipendium from the city of Berlin. My performance: “fire is raging in your hair” won the 100GRAD Festival in HAU, Berlin, and solo: “the truth is just a plain picture. said bob.” was selected for the Polish Dance Platform, and Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Since 2010 my individual choreographic practice is connected with the Art Stations Foundation by Grażyna Kulczyk in Poznań. Currently, I am a PhD candidate at the Polish Film School / Acting Department in Łódź. I am a dream opening practitioner at the School of Images of Catherine Shainberg, expanding my research through intense imagery work with Bonnie Buckner and movement practice with Rosalind Crisp. I divide my life between Berlin and Poland.
