Eye Sea
2019
Eye Sea develops an embodied practice of dreaming. When opening of and working with dreams is framed as choreographic practice, it activates the rich imaginarium of each body. Images arise, exciting the senses and stirring up memories. In the space embraced by the sharpened perception, even the tiniest bodily shimmer engenders the worlds. Dancer becomes a creative force effortlessly attending to her own unfolding – bridging temporalities, textures and forms she recognizes the body as a meeting place for the images. The process of imagining continuously situated in the space of dance, allows dancer to re-member herself, to shift and find new articulations of her bodily content. The dreaming unfolds in the space of cohabitation, where an individual process unravels to be immediately intertwined with the realities of the other fellow dreamers. In such an interlinked space, each dancing body becomes a perspective pointing at the shared reality. Here, choreography serves as an art of relation and relating – between bodies, forms, times and spaces. It allows us to question the singularity of the dancing body, for it manifests itself as being immersed in the thick bath of dreams and movements, textures and sensations that continuously swim through us. The universe that is called upon is infinite and the dancer becomes a self-sustaining force, finding her empowerment in the very capacity to move and be moved. Body is reclaimed as a knowledgeable agent of inexhaustible potential to conceive spaces of mutual listening, resonating and being-with. When committing to the dream opening choreographing one can build a bridge between the inner and outer realities, allowing for what sparks within body to manifest in the world, and for the world to plunge into the body. This eternal dance sets each of us into a response-able existence amongst others. To see is to sense and to respond in a way that can bring things closer to life and light. In such dance we overcome the immobility of fixed forms and outdated concepts, we invite the tides of worldly becomings, we swim beyond the horizon of the known, out to the open sea.
