Die Unterwelt invites young audiences into a world that unfolds beneath their school desks: a dream world where spaces and bodies can transform and great changes can be overcome. Teacher Ms. Kreutzer enters the classroom on a normal day, yet everything is completely different than usual. Is this still a game, or is it all real? Can completely different people, beings, or even entire continents emerge from the world I know and call “mine”? 

The ensemble takes its young audience on a quest through light and darkness across many landscapes  and atmospheres, dreaming up challenges, fantastic creatures and inevitably venturing into the unknown. Only together, and only with a lot of courage and imagination, we can overcome our fears and loneliness and co-create new possible worlds.

Die Unterwelt is Anna Nowicka’s first production for young audiences, in which she combines her choreographic work with her research on dreams.
